Sean Yates

Sean Yates is an English Barrister and a member of Outer Temple Chambers. He is a CEDR-accredited mediator and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. As well as sitting as a Mediator and Arbitrator, he acts as counsel in mediation and arbitration claims and appears before the DIFC Courts and Courts in England. He specializes in construction and general commercial disputes.

Sean was called to the Bar in 1996 and practised out of Chambers for a decade before relocating to the UAE. In addition to eight years working as General Counsel, he spent six years working in UAE Legal Consultancy Firms and two years for a Dubai government entity. He has been based in Dubai since 2006.

Sean sits of the CIArb UAE Branch Committee, has provided training on a CIArb mediation course and has presented on the Singapore Convention. He is currently undertaking a research degree at the University of Birmingham on the new international commercial courts.

Outside of work, Sean enjoys middle-distance running and photography.
