Patience Matinyenya

Patience is a South African-qualified lawyer and certified mediator (Law Society of South Africa). She is an Admitted Advocate of the North Gauteng High Court and is registered with the Legal Practice Council (SA). She holds an LLB (Unisa) and an LL.M. in International Business and Trade Law from the University of the Western Cape. With 19 years of professional experience, Patience brings extensive expertise in international business law, commercial negotiations, and complex dispute resolution.

She is particularly skilled in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), facilitating pragmatic and sustainable settlements that preserve relationships and enable business continuity. Her experience spans the mediation of employment and commercial disputes, the drafting and negotiation of international contracts, and the development of governance and compliance frameworks that strengthen accountability and transparency.

Patience has advised multinational corporations, boards, and public sector entities on a broad range of legal and strategic matters, including commercial law, employment law and the development of structured negotiation and mediation strategies for dispute prevention and resolution. She continues to advise within the corporate sector across the MENA region and beyond, providing guidance on contract governance, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance. Her approach integrates legal precision with an understanding of human dynamics, fostering constructive dialogue, mutual understanding, and solution-focused outcomes.

Her previous roles include Manager of Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance at the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), Legal Advisor within the South African National Treasury and Imperial Group (now DP World) and Contracts Advisor at Chevron South Africa. She has demonstrated agility and adaptability across diverse sectors from public administration to logistics and oil & gas, effectively navigating varied regulatory environments, cultures, and perspectives.
