Mariam Hamed

Mariam Hamed is a Junior Legal Specialist at the Egyptian Centre for Arbitration and Settlement of Non-Banking Financial Disputes (ECAS) and an LL.M. Candidate in Private Law with a focus on Arbitration. She also holds an Administrative Sciences Diploma from Ain Shams University, enabling her to combine public and private law perspectives in understanding institutional governance, regulation, and dispute resolution mechanisms. Mariam earned her LL.B. from Faculty of Law – English Section, Cairo University, graduating with Excellent with Honors.

She is a Young Member of CIArb, ICSID, WIPO, and ITA, reflecting her active engagement with the international ADR community.

As part of her role at ECAS, Mariam advises businesses on the importance of Mediation and Dispute Boards as essential mechanisms in their dispute management strategies. She also advocates for the "early dispute prevention" role of mediation- particularly within family businesses which she had extensively researched their unique challenges and how mediation and dispute boards can ensure their sustainability and preserve their economic contributions to the whole economy.

Also, Mariam previously worked as a Corporate and Employment Legal Associate at an international law firm, advising local and international clients on regulatory compliance, corporate and employment matters, data protection, ICT laws, and competition law allowing her to understand intricacies of businesses and how ADR mechanisms can align with their expectations and needs.

Mariam also completed several specialized courses and workshops in arbitration, mediation, intellectual property, tech law, and corporate regulation with WIPO, UNCITRAL and Egyptian Information Technology Institute further deepening her knowledge.

With her academic and practical grounding across the MENA region, Mariam aims to advocate for Mediation not only as a responsive but also a proactive dispute resolution mechanism that enables businesses to sustain their operations and thrive.
