Arumugam Thiagarajan

Arumugam Thiagarajan FCIArb is a Partner at Lex Aeterna Practices (LEAP), Managing Partner at Sathya Sai Law Firm, and Founding Partner of Themis Law Firm. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK, and has completed a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration in Singapore. He is appointed as Specialist Mediator by the Singapore International Mediation Centre. He is a Mediator Trainer in TNMCC. He is engaged in international arbitration in Singapore and India. A practicing Advocate in the Supreme Court and Madras High Court from 1994, he is also an accredited Mediator accredited by MCPC, Supreme Court of India, from 2006. He began his legal practice under his senior, Mr. K. Ramamoorthy, Former High Court Judge, Delhi, now Senior Advocate, Supreme Court. He is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association, a Member of Nivaraan– Mediators of Supreme Court, a committee member of the Corporate and Commercial Committee of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, a Member of the Society of Construction Law, and a Member of Med Arb International. He is empanelled in several institutions as an International Arbitrator and is an expert in construction and maritime arbitration. He serves as Counsel for several educational institutions in Tamil Nadu and Honorary Counsel for the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and several NGOs and clubs in Chennai. Languages known include English, Hindi, Tamil, and Sanskrit. His education includes Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Law, PG Diploma in Labour Law, PG Diploma in Hindi Translation, and MBA in Shipping and Logistics. He has published several articles on arbitration and is also a Tamil poet.
