Antony Sendall
Antony Sendall is a highly experienced barrister and mediator with over four decades of dispute resolution experience. His mediation practice spans complex civil and commercial disputes, highly sensitive workplace and employment matters, and community mediations, enabling him to work effectively across both relationship- driven and rights-based conflicts.
Antony brings a rare breadth of perspective to mediation. His work draws on multiple mediation models, including facilitative and transformative approaches, together with substantial experience of co-mediation. While he prefers to mediate face-to-face, he has also conducted many successful remote mediations. This flexibility allows him to tailor each mediation to the needs of the parties and the nature of the dispute, rather than applying a rigid or formulaic process. He is known for his calm authority, intellectual rigor and highly engaged mediation style. Parties and advisers value his ability to build trust quickly, create momentum and guide difficult conversations with clarity, empathy and purpose, even in situations involving high levels of conflict or emotional sensitivity.
Called to the Bar in 1984, Antony practises from Littleton Chambers and has been a leading employment and discrimination law specialist for many years. His employment law practice has been built on a substantial foundation in commercial dispute resolution across both the public and private sectors. He also has significant experience in professional negligence, regulatory compliance and sports law.
Antony became a mediator in 2008 and has since mediated hundreds of disputes across a wide range of sectors. His civil and commercial mediation experience includes commercial contract disputes across diverse industries, ranging from modest claims to multi-million-pound disputes; complex shareholder, partnership and LLP disputes, including boardroom conflicts and founder or investor fall-outs; restrictive covenant and confidential information disputes involving senior executives and team moves; insolvency-related and business restructuring disputes; property and business tenancy disputes; professional negligence claims; and sports-related disputes involving organisations, sponsors and individual professionals. He has also mediated exceptionally large and complex multi-party matters, including disputes involving digital platforms that had already progressed through advanced stages of litigation.
Alongside this work, Antony has extensive experience in workplace and employment mediation. This includes disputes involving allegations of bullying, harassment, discrimination and victimisation; whistleblowing concerns; relationship breakdowns between senior leaders or management teams; dismissal and redundancy disputes; and organisational conflict arising from change, restructure or cultural tension. His workplace mediation practice regularly involves highly sensitive situations where trust has fractured and communication has broken down, often at senior or board level.
Antony is a CMC Registered Mediator and an Accredited Mediator with the College of Mediators. He is also a Director of Mediation Rescue Limited, a specialist workplace mediation provider, and a member of The Barrister Group’s mediation panel. While neutrality and impartiality are essential foundations of mediation, Antony considers effective mediation to require more than passive facilitation. He adopts an “omni-partial” approach, working actively and even-handedly with all parties to support meaningful resolution. He is widely regarded as an approachable yet authoritative mediator, combining intellectual depth with warmth, good humour and sound judgment.
