Based in Sydney, Australia, Ruwan Wathukarage is a highly experienced international commercial mediator and commercial barrister with nearly 16 years of professional experience in mediation, dispute systems design, and litigation. He has successfully mediated over 1,000 disputes across a broad range of areas, including complex, multi-party commercial, building and construction, infrastructure, business, IP, civil, workplace, family, and community mediations.

In his mediation practice, he specialises in advising on dispute avoidance and dispute system design, particularly for complex infrastructure projects and cross- border commercial transactions. Mr. Wathukarage has been a mediator since 2009 and is a Nationally Accredited Mediator (NMAS) in Australia. He is also a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Australian Attorney-General Department. He was admitted to the legal profession in Australia in 2008 and is authorised to practice in all Australian jurisdictions, including the High Court of Australia. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Litigation and Dispute Resolution from the University of Queensland, with specialisations in Mediation, Dispute System Design, and International Commercial Arbitration. Mr Wathukarage founded Beyond Resolutions Mediation Services from 2013 to 2016.

Mr. Wathukarage serves as a panel mediator for the Australian Disputes Centre (ADC) and ResoX in Singapore. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the World Association of Public Private Partnerships, and has previously served as a Board Member of the Australian Dispute Resolution Association. Currently, he is a committee member at the Resolution Institute, focusing on commercial and workplace mediations. As counsel, Mr. Wathukarage advises and represents private and non-governmental clients in complex multi-party matters, specialising in equity, consumer law, contract law, and major infrastructure projects.
