Muhammad Haris

Muhammad Haris is a practising Barrister of England and Wales, an IMI-accredited mediator and mediation advocate, and the Managing Partner of Legal Edge, a mediation-enabled law firm based in Islamabad, Pakistan. He has seven years of legal practice experience spanning litigation, alternative dispute resolution, corporate advisory work and legal education. He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and holds an LL.M & BPTC from Cardiff University, with a specialisation in contract and consumer law, as well as an LL.B (Hons.) from the University of London.

Haris has conducted more than 50 mediations in Pakistan and the United Kingdom. He has been formally notified as an ADR professional by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan, and is empanelled as a mediator with the Islamabad High Court’s Court-Annexed Mediation Centre and a number of private mediation centres. His mediation practice encompasses family and matrimonial disputes, property and inheritance matters, commercial and contractual claims, corporate and shareholder disputes, partnership disagreements, employment and workplace conflicts, construction matters, succession disputes and other complex civil claims. He also acts as a mediation advocate, advising and representing parties throughout the mediation process and assisting them in developing commercially practical, legally sound and durable settlements.

As a barrister, Haris maintains a broad civil and criminal practice. He represents clients before courts and dispute-resolution forums and regularly advises on family, property, labour, corporate, commercial and public-sector matters. His work includes advocacy, strategic case management, drafting pleadings and legal opinions, negotiating commercial agreements and advising businesses on governance, regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. Before establishing Legal Edge, he practised with established litigation chambers and served as an in-house corporate and commercial consultant, where he advised on leases, non-disclosure agreements, manufacturing arrangements, service contracts and other specialised commercial transactions.

Alongside practice, Haris is an experienced legal academic. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by the University of London, the University of Greater Manchester and Liverpool John Moores University. His teaching portfolio includes Criminal Law, Civil Dispute Resolution, Civil Litigation and Evidence, Advocacy, Contract Law, Public Law, International Protection of Human Rights, European Union Law and International Economic Law. He has also served as Programme Lead for professional Bar training, teaching Civil Litigation and Evidence and Civil Application Advocacy. His combined experience as counsel, mediator, mediation advocate and educator enables him to approach disputes with rigorous legal analysis, practical commercial judgment and a strong commitment to effective, accessible and consensual dispute resolution.
